Hey All, I had to share this. Yeah, my reaction my be extreme; but this kind of stupidity really irked me a LOT!behr

I was driving home last Friday and out of the corner of my eye, I saw this sign that said “My boss told me to change this sign so I did.”

At first it was sort of cute. Then my marketing intuition kicked in and I was mortified! So much so that I thought about that stupid sign ALL weekend.

So here I am—Monday morning—stuck with this topic to write about: “What kind of first impression does your business make?” –or- “What your road side sign says about your business”.

Most of us are visual learners, so I grabbed my camera, hopped in my truck, and drove to town. Surely by now that idiot’s sign would be changed, or so I would hope!

Well, as fate would have it, it wasn’tso I snapped a picture to record this blunder for all eternity.

Now, what does this really tell us? I formed 3 insightful opinions about this business just from their sign.

  1. You lack creativity.
  2. Your team’s irresponsible behavior and judgment is way out of synch.
  3. You don’t take your marketing very seriously.
  4. And a bonus: If I was The Donald—you’d be fired!

This particular businesses market dominates a 50-mile radius for fireplace inserts and wood-burners in North Central Ohio. So they’re somewhat successful by default. However, you can certainly bet this gal WON’T be shelling out $3500 quoted for a new insert to me a few weeks ago. I’d rather buy online, and install it myself as to fork over an extra two-grand to these nit-wits!
