Fact: 2019 is my 15th year in business.  I’ve taught others and put systems in place to help them follow up with prospects/clients – but it’s not the same anymore.

Today’s mindset has shifted from gunshot email blasts, long sales copy, and cold auto-responders. Gone are the days of simply funneling prospects to the big prize with no human interaction

Consumers are aligning with products and services that matter to them. Company values, their set of beliefs, character and social responsibility are in play.  (Thanks to the Gen X & Y for keeping us in check)

This topic has been discussed the last few years on the internet so the question is: HOW are you going to follow up in a different way that MATTERS?

  1. Love your existing clients.  Keep in touch – REGULARLY… send an email or PICK UP THE PHONE and call.  Check-in on business, projects, offer tips or give them with a referral.  This reminds them of how valuable you are to be in their circle of professionals.

  2. Notice who engages online.  Who liked/shared your post? Pick up the phone and call.  Ask how you can support them, or ask for a referral.  This happened to me recently, I liked a post, and the gentleman called me out of the blue… I was surprised! I really thought his post was valuable and as it turns out, I did know someone who could benefit from his services.  I was happy to make the referral.

  3. Your system.  Find a system that flows with you. Some people use biz cards and a Rolodex. Others, an Contact Management System (CMS) with their phone.  A Google search will surely overwhelm you with options, but keep in mind, simple is best and you won’t know what works until you try it.

Now it’s YOUR turn to share the love. What follow-up tips have you noticed or practiced that matter? Please comment below.
